If the pump cannot push normal volume, it cannot pull normal volume either. This is another very common issue. You can fix this problem by tilting the pump underwater to let the air bubble escape through the inlet or outlet and allow for an upward intake of water.

Try setting your filter to recirculate (if your valve has that position). The system then lacks enough suction to pull water through the lines and expel the air.
